Pittsburgh (WJAC) — The Pittsburgh Pirates have reportedly traded first baseman Carlos Santana to the Milwaukee Brewers. According to Pirates' beat writer Jason Mackey, Pittsburgh will receive shortstop prospect Jhonny Severino in return. Santana, a 37-year-old veteran, appeared in 94 games this season for Pittsburgh while recording a .235 batting average with 12 homeruns and 53 RBIs. He signed a 1-year deal with Pittsburgh back in November. Santana is playing in his 14th major league season, having previously played for Cleveland, Philadelphia, Kansas City and Seattle.
WINDBER, Pa. (WJAC) — Windber Wings-N-Waves has been cancelled following Gov. Tom Wolf’s newly announced restrictions to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The weekly event kicked off last Thursday, but organizer Matt Grohal says the vent has now been cancelled for the rest of the year. UNIVERSITY PARK/CENTRE COUNTY, Pa — The multimillion-dollar renovation of an iconic Penn State building is nearing its finish. The Willard Building has received a forty-plus-million dollar makeover, and has put most of the college’s media all in one place. The building will now feature the previously off-campus TV studio, and will now have most of the student-run media on campus, including the Centre County Report, Daily Collegian, Commradio, Commagency and more.
ALTOONA, Pa (WJAC) — Altoona's city parks will remain open for the time being. Mayor Matthew Pacifico says physical activity is still essential to residents during the coronavirus pandemic, but he wants to encourage people to practice social distancing while at the park. Cephas came to Happy Valley over the summer after spending four seasons at Kent State. The redshirt senior, who is a Pittsburgh native, played in eight games this season for the Nittany Lions. GRESHAM, Ore. (KATU) — Police in Gresham, Oregon responded to reports of a violent attack early Tuesday morning at the Cleveland Transit Station, with investigators saying the injuries were so severe they could see the 78-year-old victim's skull.
