BLAIR COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — On Tuesday, several clients of Pyramid Healthcare helped Families United for Change clean up the "Circle of Hope" in Tuckahoe Park in Altoona. The crew spent the morning raking leaves and picking up trash around the monument, which is dedicated to those who are affected by addiction. They see the monument as positive affirmation that there are those in the community who value them and support them in their battles.
NANTY GLO - Nanty Glo Pool and Park was shut down Wednesday morning after receiving allegations about possible safety issues. On Thursday, the Pennsylvania Department of Health could be seen inspecting the pool and testing the water. An initial report hasn’t been released, but Nanty Glo Police said the pool will remained closed until the issues are handled. “The pool is now closed and will remain closed until some of the issues that were found with the structure and infrastructure of the pool have been addressed,” said Michael Oyaski of Nanty Glo Borough police.
Pittsburgh (WJAC) — According to NFL Insider Adam Schefter, the Pittsburgh Steelers have reportedly declined the 5th year contract option for running-back Najee Harris. This means that, unless a new contract is negotiated, Harris would become an unrestricted free agent at the end of this upcoming season. Harris was drafted out of Alabama in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Najee has rushed for 1,000 yards in each of his first three seasons with the Steelers, becoming the first Pittsburgh running-back to do so.

This comes months after Westmont residents got the A.C.L.U involved when they began receiving violations for going against the Borough's Sign Ordinance. BEDFORD COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — Authorities say an Everett woman will spend decades behind bars after pleading guilty to her role in the "horrific" death of a 3-year-old Bedford County boy on Memorial Day weekend of 2022. Prosecutors say Chelsea Cooley appeared in court Monday where she was sentenced to serve 40 to 80 years in state prison after pleading guilty to charges of third-degree murder in the child's death.
The Johnstown Housing Authority held a public hearing on Thursday to obtain public comments on the Authority’s Annual Plan for FY 2024, the 2024 Capital Fund Annual Statement, the Five-Year Statement as well as a Significant Amendment to the Annual Plan for FY 2023. The amendment specifically addressed the situation in Prospect after 101 families were given notice back in March to vacate the premises due to what the authority called a discovery of structural deficiencies.
JOHNSTOWN, Pa (WJAC) — A company that's served the Johnstown area for about 130 years will receive an award in Chicago on Saturday. Miller's of Johnstown got the recognition from an online publication, M-R magazine, for being one of only 12 clothing stores around the country to be open for more than 100 years. One of the co-owners of Miller's, Taylor Clark, says the company has business practices that have helped it stay open for decades.
REYNOLDSVILLE, Pa. (WJAC) — A man is behind bars after police say he fired a gun at a man repossessing his truck. According to Reynoldsville police, a man working with a towing company arrived at a Grant Street residence Halloween morning. Police say the tow truck operator located a Ford F-150 in front of the residence that matched a VIN number that was supposed to be repossessed. Police say the operator hooked up the truck and began to drive away when a woman ran out of the house after the truck followed by a man waiving a handgun.
CONEMAUGH TOWNSHIP- The grand opening of the St. Francis Caring & Sharing Food Pantry and Thrift Store is this week. The store has moved from two buildings to one, now allowing it to save money and give more back to the community. A supervisor at the store said they have been trying to move into the new building, located on Stevens Lane in Hollsopple, since 2006. It was late February when Kim Showalter said someone gave a donation for the land to move the store all under one roof.
