CENTRE COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — There is an update on the ongoing legal battle in the wake of the 2017 hazing death of former Penn State student Timothy Piazza. While most of those originally charged have wrapped up their court cases, two defendants are still awaiting trial and prosecutors now say their pre-trial arguments should be "denied" by a judge. Timothy Piazza died a few days after attending a fraternity pledge event at Penn State's Beta Theta Pi fraternity in 2017.
PUNXSUTAWNEY - State police in Punxsutawney said they are looking for man who is wanted on several charges, including drug delivery resulting in death. According to state police, they are looking for Ryan Saline, 32, of Treasure Lake Road in DuBois. Saline is described as standing 6 feet tall and weighing 210 pounds. He has blue eyes and brown hair. According to court documents, on August 31, 2017 police were called to a home on Route 322 just outside of Punxsutawney for a deceased 29-year-old man later identified as Michael Sarvey.
WASHINGTON (AP) — A Georgia business owner who bragged that he “fed” a police officer to a mob of rioters storming the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, was sentenced on Thursday to nearly five years in prison for his repeated attacks on law enforcement during the insurrection. Jack Wade Whitton struck an officer with a metal crutch and dragged him — head first and face down — into the crowd on the Capitol's Lower West Terrace.
UNDATED (WKRC) - Toyota has recalled over 100,000 top-selling vehicles. Toyota announced the recall of around 102,000 Toyota and Lexus vehicles. According to the company, it is possible that machining debris, which may not have been cleared from the engine when it was produced, can lead to engine knocking, the vehicle running rough, the engine failing to start or a loss of power. A loss of power at higher speeds can increase the risk of a crash.
Clearfield Co., PA (WJAC) — The West Branch Area School District is mourning the loss of high school student Asher Deets, who was killed in a house fire in Morrisdale early Monday morning. Officials say the fire started around 3 a.m. and the house on Morrisdale Allport Highway was "completely destroyed" by the blaze. A GoFundMe was created Tuesday in his memory. Deets is described by the school district as someone who was known for his smile and positive attitude.
Last march a man told law enforcement his two sons bought what they thought were CBD products from CBD of Altoona, but it turned out they were Delta-8 THC gummies according to a criminal complaint. It states both sons were transported to the hospital for treatment. Delta-8 can be found naturally in cannabis plants according to the National Institutes of Health, and it can be considered hemp. In 2018 the Agriculture Improvement Act, or the farm bill, “Removed hemp and hemp seeds from the Drug Enforcement Administration's schedule of Controlled Substances,” according to the United States Department of Agriculture.

BLAIR CO, Pa (WJAC) — According to a grand jury report, the leader of an area drug organization has been indicted for distributing heroin and cocaine throughout Blair and Cambria counties from March 2017 to July 2020. Authorities say 40-year-old Jonathan Delacruz, as well as two female associates, face charges of operating a corrupt organization, violating the controlled substance/drug act, criminal conspiracy and criminal use of a communication device. Investigators say Delacruz made more than $1 million distributing the drugs in and around Blair and Cambria counties.
FOXBORO, Mass. — The New England Patriots trolled the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday and then blew them out Sunday night. A day after the acquiring former Steelers malcontent Antonio Brown, the defending Super Bowl champions showed they might not even need him, getting 341 yards and three touchdown passes from 42-year-old Tom Brady to beat Pittsburgh 33-3. Phillip Dorsett caught two touchdown passes, including a 58-yard score, and Josh Gordon — another disgruntled receiver who wore out his welcome elsewhere — caught one TD pass.
