Cambria Co., PA (WJAC) — Emergency officials in Cambria County say one person was transported to Conemaugh Hospital Sunday afternoon following a house fire in East Taylor Township. Authorities say several area departments were dispatched to the blaze, just before 1 p.m., at a residence along the 900 block of William Penn Avenue. Officials say crews were on scene for "most of the day" and the roadway was closed for several hours as firefighters worked to extinguish the flames.
CLEARFIELD COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — Remembering our country’s fallen heroes. That was the theme of Sunday’s Memorial Day service held by Burnside Bible Church at the Burnside Cemetery in Clearfield County. The service featured an honor guard ceremony from the local American Legion, as well as readings from state Representative Dallas Kephart. The Sentry Fire Company in Burnside helped to set up the service, and many of their members were in attendance, along with local residents.
2nd UPDATE |JEFFERSON COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — Jefferson County coroner Brenda Shumaker has identified the victim of Tuesday's fatal crash along Route 219 in Washington Township, Jefferson County. Shumaker says 68-year-old Barbera Lundberg reportedly suffered a medical emergency prior to losing control of her vehicle and crossing into the opposite lane of travel. Police say Lundberg's vehicle collided with a pickup truck that was hauling Porta-Johns. Lundberg was pronounced dead at the scene.
UPDATE | The Blair County Coroner has identified the I-99 crash victim as Judith Pleskonko, 69, of Philipsburg. According to first responders in Centre County, Plesonko was the acting Centre County Deputy Coroner. Investigators say Pleskonko was reportedly traveling in the southbound lane on I-99 and was involved in a separate crash just moments before being struck. State police say Pleskonko's vehicle, after the initial crash, crossed into the northbound lane through an emergency crossover and came to rest in the northbound lane facing south.

ALTOONA, Pa. (WJAC) — An Altoona park is getting an upgrade to let people of all abilities feel more welcome. "Parents want to bring their children to the parks. Like my daughter-in-law with Miles. Her friends might want to come to the park, but Miles isn't able to participate," said Penny Brunner, Smiles for Miles organizer. Brunner’s grandson is the inspiration for her charity, Smiles for Miles. She said children with disabilities are often left out during trips to the park.
LONDON (AP) -- The New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox will face each other in two regular-season games at the Olympic Stadium in London next year. Boston will be the home team for both of MLB's first games in Europe on June 29 and 30, 2019. The stadium will have a capacity of 55,000 in a baseball configuration. MLB says it is also "committed to playing in London in 2020 and our intention is to establish a long-term footprint in the city.
Cambria Co., PA (WJAC) — Authorities in Cambria County say a Saltsburg man is behind bars after he allegedly stabbed a woman, in the parking lot of an area senior living facility, after asking her if she had jumper cables. Ebensburg police say officers were dispatched to the Cambridge of Ebensburg parking lot Wednesday afternoon for a report of a stabbing. Police say the caller claimed that a man had reportedly walked up to her and stabbed her in the face after asking if she had jumper cables.
UNION COUNTY (KATV) — An El Dorado photographer has found a unique way to help the Union County Animal Protection Society adopt out their pets and raise some money for the shelter in the process. Tammy Swarek has been getting the Union County shelter dogs camera ready and taking their photographs to help the dogs find loving homes as part of the Shelter Pets Project. The dogs have been dressed in outfits and hairpieces to get ready for their close-ups.
